Pamela Winfield

Born: September 21, 1947 in Austin, Texas

Moved to Europe as an infant. In chronological order, the places where I lived and was educated as a child:

Arlington, Virginia – where I graduated high school in 1965

1963 – While attending boarding school in Canada, I was runner-up
in the National Canadian High School Art Competition and
won a cash prize.

1966 – Attended the University of California (San Diego)
majoring in philosophy and linguistics.

1967-’68 – Lived in San Francisco, where I worked for The North
American Ibis Alchemical Company doing the light show at
The Family Dog’s concerts at the Avalon Ballroom and at the
Monterey Pop Festival.

1968-’69 – Lived first on Oahu, then Maui, Hawaii

1969-’71 – Lived in New York City, where I started selling portraits.

1972-’73 – Lived in Norman, Oklahoma, where I started exhibiting.

1973-’77 – Lived in San Francisco

1978-’83 – Lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma, worked as a graphic artist and
illustrator for Idea Graphics. Branched out from painting and
drawing by learning serigraphy (University of Oklahoma) and
developing an interest in sculpting.

1983-’86 – Studied sculpture at The Academy of Fine Arts (Akademie der
Bildenden Künste) in Munich, W. Germany under Professor
Heribert Sturm. Also built up a successful portrait business.

1987 Stayed briefly in the Monadnock Region of southern New
Hampshire. Showed my work at The Jaffrey Bank, The Ram
in the Thicket – Wilton, The Victoria Place – Milford.

1987-’90 – Lived in the Florida Keys (Marathon). Member of the
Marathon Art Guild. Won 1st and 3rd places in a juried show
there in 1988. Exhibited at Kennedy Gallery, Marathon;
Aristos Gallery, Key West; The Last Resort Collective, Mara-
thon.

1988-’89 – Spent 7 months in los Angeles, focusing on bas-reliefs.

1990 – Spent summer in Bar Harbor, Maine – focusing on a wildlife
series.

1991-’95 – Lived in Pike Co., Georgia. Exhibited at The Chandler Bldg.,
Zebulon.

1995 – Spent 6 months in Madras, India (Also shorter visits in ’88,
’91, ’92 and ’94)

1996 – Moved to Madras that became Chennai.

1997 – Participated in artists´ camp sponsored by the Alliance
Francaise, Bangalore with Gallery Sumukha.
Exhibition travelled to Alliance Francaise of Pondicherry,
Madras, Trivandrum, Hyderabad and Goa respectively.

1997-98 – Designed and built home in Manapakkam, including
mosaics and murals.

1999 – Returned to USA for several months, where I worked
on sculpture and portrait commissions in Dallas, Austin
and Houston, Texas.

2000 – Spent 2 months painting in Carinthia, Austria.

2001 – Returned to India and continued working in Chennai (the former Madras).

2003 – Visited and worked in the Canary Islands and Austria during the summer.

2004 – Painted a large mural at the SRCM Manapakkam Ashram.

2005 – ‘5 Women’, a group exhibition at Palazzo Gallery, Chennai.

2007 – Exhibition (with Kathleen Scarboro) at Artworld Gallery, Chennai.

2008 – Relocated to Camp Wood, a small town in the Texas Hill Country.

2009 – Exhibition (with Scarboro and Brigitte Smith) at Artworld Gallery, Chennai.

2010-2012 – Worked in Texas and summer home in New Mexico.

2012-2013 – Sculpture for Lindbergh Park in Camp Wood, Texas.
